After leaving my fiance in early 2007, I finished out the following two semesters of college. I then decided that I needed something new in my life, so I started training for MWT (Minority Workers Training) in the Bronx in January of 2008.

After passing all training and tests, I was the only woman in the class. But, I decided that construction was not for me.

My brother Scott has always pushed me to be an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), so I finally decided that I had no more options and I'd try this out.

I started pre-training at Met council (in Manhattan) in early March. After passing pre-training, I started EMT training at Emergency Care Programs in Brooklyn. I had classes M-W, 6pm-10pm, and on Thursdays I had review classes at Met Council from 6pm-8pm.

After a long summer struggle, I took my EMT-B state test on August 21st, 2008. I failed by one point. But I decided to keep with it, my next test would be November 20th, 2008.

I studied nearly everyday, and had great help thanks to several online friends, including this guy who I met online via okcupid three days after my birthday. I thought he was wonderful from the second I saw a picture with his arms around her.

Luckily for me, he IMed me, and we got along from the first word. I found out that he had just got home from picking up his stuff at her house, they had been broken up for a while. We decided to meet up a week or so after. We had a good time, but it wasn't the right time for me, but we kept on chatting online and through texts.

He even helped me study for my retest by asking me questions. My favorite one was "Patient is an adorable EMT who wants to meet me. What do I do?"

After I passed my EMT-B test, he was the third person that I called (after my parents and sister of course). I could barely talk, as I had a terrible sore throat, but he was very happy to talk to me.

After that, things just really fell into place. We texted each other all night on Thanksgiving, wishing we were together. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving didn't work out for us, but we did decide to get together again a couple of days later.

We hung out again on November 29th and had the most amazing time. He even brought me to his best friend's house for a mini party. Everyone loved me, and from that moment, I knew he was my future boyfriend. We made it official on December 3rd, and it has been amazing since. I am constantly told by his friends that they have never seen him happier. He has told me that he himself has never been this happy. We are always laughing, smiling, and of course kissing each other.

I still don't have a job, as the economy sucks, but I do have my wonderful boyfriend.
